Comment:	CAFCASS ia a specialist service for family courts. Its purpose is to assist parents and courts to promote, identify and protect the interests of children who are subjects of Family proceedings. CAFCASS brought together the services previously been provided by three separate services: the Family Court Welfare Service, the Guardian ad Litem and Reporting Officer Service and the Childrens Divisions of the Official Solicitors Department. CAFCASS is now a non-departmental public body answering to the Lord Chancellor. This service becomes involved at the request of the court.
