Comment: | NARA was founded in 1984 to campaign, organise appeals and other initiatives relating to the cessation of breathing (apnoea). They are able to provide babies, children and adults with advice, information, medical equipment, support and a twenty four hour helpline. The numbers of children and adults suffering from severe asthma is increasing and unfortunately most nebulisers are not available on the NHS. NARA operate a medical loans system; written approval must be sought from a doctor or asthma nurse responsible for the patient. Portable nebulisers can be hired to take on holiday (in UK or abroad) at a cost of £75.00. Simply contact NARA and request an application form. NARA also loan breathing monitors to assist those who have a baby considered 'at risk' of cot death.
A small deposit of £25.00 (retirnable when the loaned equipment is returned) is required. |
