Comment: | Parents for the Early Intervention of Autism in Children (Peach) is a UK national charity that provides information and support to parents of children with autism. Their helpline is often the first point of contact for parents with a newly diagnosed child. Peach advocates the use of early behavioural intervention programmes also known as Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA). These programmes aim to enhance intellectual, academic, social and emotional behaviours so that children can take better advantage of the social and educational opportunities available in their community, therefore requiring less professional support as they grow older.
Peach has three principal goals:
Supporting parents of children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder to make informed choices for their children's future by providing information and approaching local and central government;
Monitoring standards and quality of services;
promoting ABA through the promotion of information to a wider forum. |
