The Children's Play Information Service (CPIS) is a specialist information resource providing information on many aspects of children's play - including theories of play, play value, play education and training, play therapy, playwork, playgrounds and play safety.
CPIS has a large and comprehensive collection of materials on children's play including books, journals, videos and commercial play resource brochures. They offer an enquiry service, specific subject searches, details of organisations working in the field of play, details of play consultants in the UK and factsheets on a number of play related topics (available free of charge on receipt of a large stamped SAE).
CPIS is open for enquiries and visitors Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm. Visits are by appointment only and free of charge.
