The South West Adoption Network (SWAN) is an independent post adoption service for the South West region of England. Many people in the area will be able to use their services free of charge, although in the future intermediary services for birth relatives will be charged. SWAN is available to anyone involved in adoption:
+ adopted adults and their families;
+ adopted young people and children;
+ birth parents and other relatives of someone who has been adopted;
+ adopted parents and other relatives by adoption.
SWAN can offer advice, counselling on the telephone, some face-to-face, groups which meet regularly to deal with specific issues, opportunities to meet face to face with other people who have similar experiences and workshops. They also offer Training and Consultancy and an adoption support consultation clinic for current adopters.
