Comment: | The Key is a special, proactive information service for any family in Gloucestershire with a disabled child. It is run by GUIDE Information Service and aims to provide information that is customised to each family, depending on the childs abilities and interests, disabilities, age and where in the county the family lives. Any family with a child with a significant disability or chronic illness can join The Key, or leave it , at any time they wish. It is completely FREE and CONFIDENTIAL. The details of each family are kept strictly confidential, other than where helpful networking (with other families) is set up with that familys permission. Young disabled people (up to the age of nineteen) are very welcome to join The Key mailing list for themselves. They will receive up to date information about benefits, leisure activities and local and national services available to them. There is also a website section devoted to young people with disabilities (including learning disabilities as there is information available in Widget) called Keywords 4 Teens accessed via www.keywords.org.uk. The service runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesdays 9:00am to 12:30pm. Anyone can call The Key for information during its hours of opening. The service is wholly funded by Gloucestershire Social Services. |
