Organisation:Clearvision Project

Comment:

The primary aim of the Clearvision Project is to increase the range and interest of material available to children learning to read braille and to enable books to be shared with sighted friends. The clearvision process takes standard childrens picture books and adds the brailled text on clear plastic sheets so that the pictures and print text are still visible. The books can then also be used by visually impaired adults wanting to read to sighted children. The books are chosen from popular fiction and National Curriculum related information books. Most titles are available in either grade 1 or grade 2 braille. Families, schools and libraries may borrow books from Clearvision.
Clearvision also has novelty books with added braille for toddlers, and a new collection of specially made tactile books (for educational establishments only). They also have a small selection of simple books labelled in Moon.
